A NIGHT OF SURPRISES, SUSPECTS AND SUSPENSE!
Always expect the unexpected from Crieff Drama Group. Over the past 12 years, our audiences have seen everything from comedy, French farce and spoof horror, to snippets of Shakespeare, yuletide shows for children and specially devised presentations for the Drovers’ Tryst and Heartland FM radio. Now comes yet another fresh concept – this time, prepare to be thoroughly bamboozled.

Our gripping new production in Morrison’s Academy Hall in April is the Two-Act mystery thriller ‘Suddenly at Home’, by Francis Durbridge. All those of a certain age will surely remember Durbridge as the creator of radio and television’s famous amateur detective, Paul Temple. Durbridge also went on to write several series of Saturday night mystery plays for BBC TV. ‘Suddenly at Home’ was his first play for theatre audiences, premiered in 1971, and a true classic it is. The original production starred Gerald Harper and featured a very youthful Penelope Keith.

As intriguing now as it was then, the story rolls out more plot twists than a spiral staircase. Set in an opulent mews in London’s West End, it’s anyone’s guess from the outset what the sinister plans of the leading characters actually are. So will you be able to separate the lies from the truth? Suffice to say, Durbridge’s adeptness in formulating suspense and shock will keep the audience captivated right through to the tension-filled finale.

Performances are on Thursday 14th, Friday 15th and Saturday 16th April, and, tickets, at just £6, will be available mid-March from Ann Morrison on 01764 656375 and at Campbell’s Newsagent in the High Street. Curtain up is at 7.30pm each night, and our usual wine bar will be open pre-show at 7.00pm and in the interval.
